THE ECO-PASSIVE HOUSE
INSULATED WITH STRAW

The architectural project of the150 square meters house and was designed by Arch. Ramona Barbu-Mocănescu and the innovative structure was designed by Daniel Barbu-Mocănescu according to eco-passive principles of energy efficiency and ecology. We got involved in the project with structural design and calculation, prefabricated timberframe structure and roof trusses, and we also took care of the assembly.  

The house is insulated with 25 cm Naturami semi-rigid straw panels with lambda coefficient of 0.04 W/mK, and finished with lime and clay plasters. Also, a wall of rammed earth (pressed clay) was included indoors to increase the thermal mass and help regulate humidity. The sun oriented facades, efficient thermal insulation and glazing, and the heat recovery ventilation unit contribute to significantly reducing the energy consumption of the house.
