DESIGN OF WOODEN STRUCTURES
HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
Through our technical expertise, we offer a range of essential services to ensure the success of your project — especially when energy efficiency and sustainability are key priorities.
At the early stages of a project, it’s extremely valuable to receive guidance on site planning, budgeting, technical details that may work in theory but prove challenging in practice, realistic timelines, and much more. Beyond that, we continuously test the homes we build and constantly improve the products and services we provide.
So, whether you're still in the idea phase or already working with your architect, you can count on us for the following services:
Services
TEHNICAL CONSULTING
We are certified passive house specialists with extensive construction experience, which is very valuable and essential during the design and budgeting phases.

Services
GREEN HOMES CERTIFICATION
We are accredited by the Romanian Green Building Council to certify projects according to the Green Homes standard — an internationally recognized sustainability certification.

Services
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING DESIGN
Our engineers are specialised in timber structures, and together with our design partners. We can also help you with foundations and complex structures.

Servicii
BLOWER DOOR AIRTIGHTNESS TESTING
We guarantee the quality of our projects through blower door testing and thermal imaging inspections. We test, fix, and improve.

DESIGN TEAM
A well-built wooden house starts from the design phase, where we recommend a multidisciplinary approach to the project right from the initial concept. This way, the architect or architectural team transforms your ideas into an architectural concept adapted to the requirements of the local authorities as specified in the Urbanism Certificate.
The architectural concept is also influenced by the specifics of the timberframe construction system, the chosen building services, as well as the requirements of the nZEB standard. Therefore, many variables must be considered before arriving at a final project version, which is why it is essential to bring all disciplines together at the same table.
We bring expertise in structural design specializing in timber superstructures, and together with our partners—architects, engineers, energy auditors, and certifiers—we can turn an idea into a successful project. Whether it’s nZEB or certified passive houses, guesthouses, educational facilities, or other types of buildings suited for timber structures, we have the know-how to deliver.
DESIGN PROCESS
Even if the land is in your possession, there are still a few essential steps that you need to follow before you can build. The saying "hurry up and ruin the job" applies to this process. Therefore, when planning your house, we recommend that you consider a design time of at least 3 months until the Building Permit. Obviously, the fewer iterations there are in the design stage, the shorter the design time will be. There are situations in which you can move forward with the architectural concept, arrive at a variant that you really like, but have to downsize the house because you don't fit into the budget.
In our experience, we recommend that you allocate enough time for the design, especially in the execution details stage, when you will ask for bids and choose who to work with. A detailed design will contain everything a builder, installer or craftsman needs to do a good job and if these details are missing, you will have to make certain technical decisions yourself or rely on the expertise of the person you are working with. Several hundred euros invested in the design will save you thousands of euros in the execution stage by avoiding bad decisions.
Urban Planning Certificate
Before starting the design, you must pass an important step, the Urbanism Certificate. The architect can help you obtain it more easily. Also at this stage, it is necessary to obtain more data about the land: Geotechnical Study for the analysis of the foundation soil and Topographical Elevation.
Construction Permit
Starting from the final architectural concept form, the design team advances the design to the authorization phase, which contains: architectural design, foundations, installation schemes and the nZEB report. In addition to the design, you also need to obtain the approvals that appear in the Urbanism Certificate. All this documentation is submitted to the city hall and you wait 30 days according to the law.
Architectural concept
Starting from your ideas, the architect will create an architectural concept, which will be tested and adapted in several iterations to the structural, installation and nZEB requirements. Ultimately, this architectural concept must respect your living needs.
Technical Project & Execution Details
After you have obtained the Construction Permit and there are no further changes to the project, the design team continues the project detailing up to the Technical Design and Execution Details phase on all specialties: architecture, foundation and superstructure resistance, and installations on all specialties. Then you can start the construction site without any worries.
Design, the most important stage of a project, so it must be treated with great care and focus on details!
-
The production process begins in our design office, where a complete analysis of the project is made according to the architectural model and structural requirements. In the case of a more complex project, involving multiple disciplines, we collaborate with other stakeholders to optimize as much as possible: reduce material consumption, construction time, and costs;
-
The structural design is done with specialized softwares such as RoofCon TrussCon, CadWork and Axis VM, which allow the designer and structural engineer to do a complex calculation of strength and a detailed analysis of joints connected with MiTek connectors;
-
The verification and calculation of roof trusses, walls, and other structural elements is done according to EUROCODE 5 norms and national standards;
-
Elaboration of the production project through detailed technical sheets: dimensions, angles, positioning of multi-nail plates at the joints, specific material consumption and execution time;
-
Elaboration of the technical documentations: technical structural project and execution details*;
-
We have the MINERGIE (Passive House Switzerland) accreditation which certifies our design engineers to design and build according to the Passive House standard;
* For our clients and collaborators, the structural calculation together with all the technical documentation (the structural project) is done free of charge in most cases.
